Kaso ang init sa Pinas! :P Pero ang cute no? Kagigil!!! Her lola promised her a pair of boots from Zara so I'm keeping my fingers crossed na sana may kasamang outfit hehe. Wais!

God's little angels

I was eating lunch while watching Oprah while crying.

I rarely watch her show but nothing was on so there was nothing I can do but watch. The feature was about sex trafficking. They showed a bunch of little girls, around 7-10 years old from Cambodia and India. They are prostitutes. And did I mention that they are LITTLE girls? One scene that made me cry was the hidden camera segment.

I was expecting 12-14 year-old girls (which already sickens me) but the 2 girls who came out are just barely 6 to 7 yrs old. They looked so little, and sweet and seem oblivious to what's about to happen. The younger girl looked a bit like my Sandy and my heart went out to her. I lost my appetite and there was a huge lump in my throat. If I remember correctly, it costs $10 for an oral sex and these little girls get 20-30 customers a day.

These girls should be playing outside. They should be in school, studying and getting ready for the big world. Instead, they are being eaten alive.

I wish I can do something about it. I really do.

Four years ago, we were talking about a friend when you suddenly took my hand and with your i-mean-business face, asked me to marry you. I still remember it like it was only yesterday. I was shocked and thought you were joking. I mean, who makes marriage proposals in a fire exit? Only you, my love. And I won't change a thing.

Happy third year anniversary Bebi! You're still the best thing that ever happened to me ;)

Sandy's November Update

Sandy:
Loves to pray. Kahit anong uri ng rebulto dinadasalan nya hehe. Magagalit pa yan pag di mo sya sinabayan mag-sign of the cross.

Is getting better at walking. Hurray! Wala naman tigil ngayon. I'm having a hard time nursing her because she wants to stop in the middle of her feeding just so
she can get out of the bed and play on the floor.

Lovess attention. Hindi pwedeng walang nanonood pag may ginagawa siya. She calls mama and papa every 5 seconds and we have to stop whatever we're doing just so we can see her play doctor doctor, put on a makeshift bracelet, clean her nose, take a bath, etc.

Loves to play ball. Puts her pillow on top of her head

Screams/squeals a lot. It's really funny (most of the time)

Calls her papa whenever she sees someone playing basketball, football, billiards on TV then raises her arms to squeal and cheer. Kaaliw!

Knows how to put her baby Ha (doll) to sleep by rocking her and singing to her

Sings alleluiah with arms raised.

Talks to someone on the phone. Kawawa nga kausap nya kasi lagi siyang sumisigaw. "Hewo? Haaaa? Burugudunstuytugudunstuy!"

Aye, she's walking.

Lately, I've been worried that Sandy is taking too long to walk on her own. We rarely allow her to crawl on the floor (my bad) because I'm scared that she might hit her head or whatever. One weekend, we got Sandy a playmat so we can encourage her to walk. It was a good decision on our part. She loved the idea of being on her own and started crawling for the first 30 minutes. I had no idea she can crawl that fast! Then she stood up on her own and started walking slowly to get her doll. I was trying very hard not to touch her. Finally, I can watch TV while she's playing lol.

What's New?
1. She received a brainy baby flash cards as a gift. We started teaching her 6 items at a time and now she can already identify half of the box. Isn't that amazing? She even tries to repeat some of the words.

2. She looks at my keyboard to press the keys, then looks at the monitor to see what happens. She even talks while she types.

3. She doesn't tip toe that much anymore and can stand and walk a few steps already. She does it on top of the bed though and not on the floor. LOL.

4. Less tantrums, more playing (watches barney, reads her books and flash cards, talks to her stuffed toys, plays doctor doctor)

5. She can get out of the bed by sliding backwards, smiling smugly while doing it.

I recently bought a basket where I can put all of Sandy's stuffed toys. They were scattered everywhere that I can't even find a decent place to lie down. When Sandy saw all of her toys inside, she wanted to play inside too.

Typhoon Milenyo, thawed breastmilk and credit cards

Manila was hit with Typhoon Milenyo, signal number 3 last week. We didn't have any electricity and water for 5 days so we decided to check in a condotel/hotel. However, all the hotels and condotels were fully booked at the time. I had to fight tooth and nail just to get a reservation. We were like those characters in the movies who were travelling and sleeps from one motel to another. It made a very huge dent on our wallets because most of the cheaper rooms were booked and the only ones available are worth 5k and up. It's all worth it though seeing Sandy fully rested.

And then here's us begging for power, LOL.(Sandy fell asleep without nursing so she must be really tired)

Our credit card bills are so high this month which is very unusual for us. I'm positive that we can clear all of them for the next two months though. I hate having debts even when I was single so I always make sure to pay our credit card balance even before it starts to accumulate interest.

I didn't have any DSL connection as well so I've been working in an Internet cafe at SM Bicutan for the past 5 days. All of my 110 oz. of stored breastmilk were thawed because of the goddamn brownout. Sandy drinks milk every 2-3 hours so I can't stay outside for more than 3 hrs. This means I have to work quickly and make the most of my 2 hrs at the cafe. Then go back to nurse Sandy and put her to sleep. Go back to the cafe again to upload whatever task I was able to finish. By night time, I was so exhausted to do anything else. Sherwin is still sick, poor hubby! I tried to take care of him as well but Sandy is a handful so there's not much TLC to go around.

The good news is I finally had my internet back yesterday afternoon so I'm working from home again. Hurray

Sandy's First Birthday Party

Sandy celebrated her first birthday party last September 24. The preparation was on hold for a couple of days so we had to rush some stuff on the day itself. Sandy's fever went on an off and we've been going back to the hospital for the past 3 days to do some blood tests. We were on the lookout for dengue and UTI symptoms. She always wakes up crying, burning with fever, her skin all red and it just breaks my heart. I wish it was me who's sick and not her. Her blood test came out clear but I'm still afraid that a goddamn mosquito bit her and gave her dengue. Both Sherwin and I couldn't work because we we're so worried about our little baby. I prayed and prayed that God will spare her. HE answered and Sandy's fever finally went down last Saturday afternoon. So to cut the story short, tuloy ang party!!!

SANDY's PARTY

10 AM: We started preparing for the party. Called up the suppliers, confirmed schedules and ordered food for the kids from Jollibee. Sherwin went to the venue to give the permit and tarp to the caterers.

12 PM: Gave Sandy a bath so she can get some sleep before we leave for the party.

1PM: I asked everyone including the yayas to take a bath and start preparing. We put on Sandy's stockings and it looked so cute on her. She doesn't think so though and tried to take it off a couple of times.

2:30PM: We went to the venue to meet with Imma, the balloon supplier. I loved what she did to the place. We were hesitant to book the venue before because it was too big for 100pax. Imma assured me that she'll make it look really nice and she did, the place looked amazing. The spacing was just right and the balloon arrangements are so colorful making the party look so alive and fun.

Sandy's Cake (super yummy from Kitchen Krafts)

Sandy was still recovering from her fever so she wasn't her usual cheerful self. Even her eyes were a bit sad. We changed her to her lovely gown, made by my Mom. She just loves wearing it, touching the fabric from time to time.

John Aguas, our photographer, started taking pictures of Sandy. The old Sandy returned when we sat her on a chair. She knew right then that it was her party so she laughed, clapped, squealed and danced. She also played peek-a-boo with the photographer and wanted to walk around in her new shoes and gown. We tried putting on her butterfly wings even though the garter was too big for her arms.

The guests started to arrive around 3:20-4PM. I was so happy to see that there were lots of kids. We weren't sure how many kids were coming considering 10 of them already told me that they won't be able to make it. It was like a dream come true for me. I just love seeing kids running around and making a mess.

Sandy's ninang Chay gave her a bike. I don't think she likes it very much, LOL.

Alex (the host) started the program with some games for the kids and adults. I bought a lot of prizes, even more than what Alex asked me to bring. However, I got nervous when I noticed that we we're running short on minor prizes.

Even the adults appeared to be having fun.

We have been teaching Sandy how to blow a candle for a couple of months now. We even sing the happy birthday song so she'll remember it when the time comes. However, I think she got shocked when all the kids formed a circle in front of her singing. She was just staring at them, not even recognizing the song that she loves so much. It was probably too much for her to handle. Anyway, when we tried to blow the candle, she accidentally stepped on two cupcakes. Sherwin and I looked at each other and shared a smile because we know that these things can only happen to Sandy because of her kakulitan.

The cute butterfly Piñata made by Jhoanne, co-n@wie. The kids had a hard time breaking the piñata so my Kuya stepped up and smashed it. I know he enjoyed it but pretended not to care just so he will look cool hehe.

Sandy was so tired but she still won't allow me to take off her gown. She just loves to dress up like mommy. :)

When we opened her gifts at home, she was still fully awake and alert. I was still a bit nervous coz her fever might come back but awa ng Diyos, it never did. It didn't go very far though. I had fever and colds for three days and Sherwin caught it as well. It doesn't matter how sick we are as long as Sandy is healthy and being makulit again.
