Daily Dose of Sports

For all you football fans out there, make sure you visit addictsports.com to get updated with the latest happenings and news on your favorite teams. I came across the Addict Sports website while I was looking for inspiration for a banner design. The client's website is all about fantasy football but it didn't have a lot of info so I tried to learn all that I can online. Thanks to Addict Sports, I got all the idea that I need to get started. This forum has everything a sport enthusiast would want and more. There are threads about NFL picks, fantasy games, trade rumors, history of the games, even game trivia. It's definitely the perfect hang out for all sports fans who wish to share their stories and experiences with other fans.

Anyone can get auto insurance

I always believe in the term, the more, the merrier. This also applies to companies competing to offer you their services. The more quotes, the higher the chances that they will compete to offer the lowest price. Whether it's for home insurance, pension plans or auto insurance, the process is the same.

A friend of mine always gets quotes for auto insurance at americancarquotes.com. She said it's so convenient that all you need to do is just fill out one form online and receive several quotes immediately. Plus, they guarantee that each auto insurance company that they have in their database are the leaders in the insurance industry. Using the info that you fill out on the application form, americancarquotes.com will match your requirements with the company that's right for you. Even if you have poor records or just a student, americancarquotes.com can help you find the right auto insurance package.

Shopping for Babies

I'm helping a pregnant friend shop for baby items online. When she asked me last month if I can tell her what to buy, I got really excited. I never pass any chance to shop and what more if it's for babies. I consider myself an expert when it comes to baby cribs and high chairs because I've been there already. And before I buy anything, I spend weeks researching online on which brands are safe, comfortable and cheap. I want to make sure that I'm getting my money's worth because baby furniture can get really expensive. And you don't want to settle for something cheap but low quality because we're talking about the baby's safety here.

Anyway, one of the sites that we visited is babythings4u.co.uk. They have a wide selection of baby items including furniture, mobiles, travel cots, car seats, toys, bouncers, even shoes. I told her that although wooden cribs will look better in the nursery, I don't recommend buying one if you're planning to co-sleep. Also, they don't have a lot of room so it's best if they just buy the necessities like breast pump, bottles and sterilizers. We did get a travel cot though because they always travel to their parent's houses every weekend. And my friend doesn't know but I bought a pink bed rail for her future princess. Since they are going to co-sleep, she can place the baby at the other end of the bed (so her husband won't squash the baby!) without worrying that she might fall. I then told another friend to buy her the mobile in this post so we can surprise her on her baby shower. :)

Sandy The Big Girl

I am thankful for the freedom and short ME time that I get whenever Sandy goes to school. However, at moments like this, I can't help but want to see her immediately so I can give her a big hug.

Instead of working like I'm supposed to, I spend time browsing through her old photos and marvel on how quick she's grown. She talks non-stop these days, telling stories from the time she woke up until we go to sleep. It's hard to keep up with her, but we do what we can even if we can't keep our eyes open anymore. At least now, she can sleep on her own. As soon as we're done telling each other stories (usually lasts for an hour or more), she'll go straight to her bed and try her best to sleep.

Another Monthly Activity

Sandy's school is having a special activity to benefit unfortunate kids. It's going to be a kid's garage sale wherein the students will sell their old but still good quality stuff to homeowners around the school. The money that they raise will then be donated to the poor. Most parents will contribute to the affair and since I'm the one with design experience, I'll be designing table top display, banners, pamphlets advertising the bazaar. I didn't know at first what a table top display look like so I checked a website doing trade show exhibits to see samples of table covers.

Anyway, the kids are really excited about it. There will be games and food, which were assigned to other parents. This garage sale would be like hitting two birds in one stone for us. We’d get to help the poor and we can let go of all our old stuff too, including Sandy’s toys, old clothes, shoes and books.

Crinkly Nose

Saw this again from my Flickr account. This smile of hers is one of my favorites. She smiles so hard that her nose gets all crinkly. Her usually big eyes are almost gone too. Sandy loves looking at this photo too. She never fails to laugh on how weird she looks all the time. I wish I can say the same for myself. Whenever I look at my photos, I always find something wrong with it.

What Joy Means

Leadership - check. Well rounded = check. Everything else? Nah. Too good. :) It's great reading something nice about your name though.

What Joy Means

You are fair, honest, and logical. You are a natural leader, and people respect you.

You never give up, and you will succeed... even if it takes you a hundred tries.

You are rational enough to see every part of a problem. You are great at giving other people advice.

You are well rounded, with a complete perspective on life.

You are solid and dependable. You are loyal, and people can count on you.

At times, you can be a bit too serious. You tend to put too much pressure on yourself.

You are a free spirit, and you resent anyone who tries to fence you in.

You are unpredictable, adventurous, and always a little surprising.

You may miss out by not settling down, but you're too busy having fun to care.

Help find a missing child

Be on the lookout for this missing child. I just have an idea how the mother feels and I'd die if something like this happens to me.

----------------------------------------------------------
Name: Matthew” Chu-chu” David Samudio
Age: 3 Years Old, Can barely speak straight.
Address: 16 guyabano st umali rd. summitville subdivision putatan muntinlupa city 1770

He was last seen at Tom’s World Arcade in Festival Mall Alabang, around
8pm yesterday July 22, 2008 wearing Green Checkered Polo, Maong pants
and Green Mr. Bean Slippers.

When we reviewed the surveillance
camera in said mall, there was this chubby impoverished looking girl
around 12-13 years old wearing a dirtied pink top with floral design
and a reddish jogging pants who summoned my nephew and then whispered
something to him, then my pamangkin who is very “bibo” readily took her
hand as they went out of the said premises.

Guys, I need your
help with this, if you know people in the media, police or government
agency who might be able to HELP us locate my nephew, I’m begging you,
please, please help us. Or at the very least, please pass this message
to as many people as possible, who knows where the abductors might have
taken him… Matthew is a very sickly kid, he rarely eats unless his
yaya feeds him and he was about to have an operation for fluid in his
right testis.

If there are any news or lead that can locate my
nephew, please help us… Sobrang kawawa ang pamangkin ko, who knows
how they are treating him…I dont want this thing happening to any kid
so please help my nephew. PLEASE. You can contact my brother at
0923-638-4632.

Thank you so much and God Bless you!

Selling Structured Settlement

Do you suddenly find yourself in need of money? One thing that you can do is sell structured settlement. Structured settlements are financial arrangement to resolve a personal injury claim. Since you're the benefactor, you have the right to sell future structured settlement payments so you can use it for immediate needs. Whether you need pay off your existing debts, send tuition to school or need money for house renovations, you can turn your settlement into cold cash.

However, according to an article I've read online, most state laws require that a proposed settlement factoring transaction should be in the best interest of the seller. It takes into consideration the welfare and support of any dependents, the purpose for the funds, mental and physical capacity, and potential need for medical attention in the future.

Are You Id, Ego, or Superego?

You Are the Ego

You take a balanced approach to your life.

You definitely aren't afraid to act out on your desires - even crazy ones.

But you usually think first. Morals drive you as much as hedonism does.

You've been able to live a life of pleasure... without living a life of excess.

HD Radio Stations

I heard about Florida High Definition Radio stations from my client. I find it a really great service and wish we can have something here. I know my husband would love to have one! Just imagine being able to listen to our favorite rock stations without drop offs or interruptions.

This HD Digital radio is the latest advancement in radio broadcasting, enabling both AM and FM radio stations to broadcast their programs digitally. The best thing about this service is you'll get to hear your favorite stations in a CD quality sound and ... it's free! That's right. Listen to new country music stations, latest alternative bands, new programs you haven't listened to before in a crystal-clear reception without any audio distortion. There are no subscription fees or monthly bills, just free music and programming to keep you entertained whether you're at home, at the office or traveling.

To be able to receive digital radio, you'll need to install an HD Radio receiver for your home or car. There are tons of HR receivers being sold online and I saw that the cheapest is at $99 to $149.99. And if you want to create full stereo experience, then the Polk Audio I-sonic ES2 can give you just that. Using four specially designed full range speakers, this table-top system will beam the sound straight towards the listener, letting you enjoy high fidelity stereo wherever you are in the room. Definitely the perfect package for music lovers like us.

Busy Day Today

So what's new? I honestly can't remember not being busy ever since I decided to work from home and raise a toddler at the same time. I'm not complaining. In fact, I'm very thankful that I found this job. Aside from having the luxury of being with my daughter at all times, I'm also free to pursue other online projects. The problem here is the more I earn, the more I spend on frivolous things such as shoes, bags and clothes. And did I mention my addiction to little girl's toys? I just can't buy enough for my daughter. It seems that I want to give her all the toys that I wanted when I was a kid.

Anyway, since I need to pay a lot of bills, I'll have to accept that everyday will always be, a busy day. Besides, I know I'd get sick if I have to spend my whole day doing nothing.

Quick Loans

In relation to my post below, I know how important it is to have a back up plan when it comes to finance issues. Even if you think you have more than enough to last a month, you never know when you will need extra cash. Let's say you were hospitalized and spent your whole month's salary on hospital bills. You may have about two weeks left from payday but there are bills that need to be paid as soon as possible. Not mentioning putting food on your table. Here's where payday loans enter the picture. Whether you're short of cash, need to augment your monthly salary or simply want to purchase something that's not part of the budget; there's no quickest way to get money than getting payday loans. The advantage here is that you get to pay your bills on time so you will not incur any penalty and charges. You will not believe how much we're paying for credit card interests just because we didn't pay on time.

Do You Need Therapy?

Nah, I can't possibly be that bad??

There's a 63% Chance That You Need Therapy

You almost certainly need therapy. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Lately life has not been easy for you. Why not let a therapist help you sort things out?

Financial Support

The Husband is hinting that he wants to spend his birthday in Singapore, just in time for F1 racing. My answer is always an automatic no because I'd rather go to the beach than shop/tour in Singapore. Plus I don't really have a budget for an out of the country trip. A friend told me she always gets cash advance whenever she goes on vacation but I'm not comfortable spending money that I don't have yet. Unless it's something huge like my daughter's educational plan, school tuition or unexpected car repairs and medical situations, I'll do my best not to spend beyond our means. Having said all that, it's still a great comfort knowing that we can always get cash advance in case of emergencies.

Online Wedding Planning

This is an example of how good a friend I am. My long time friend is getting married in California and even if she has found a new set of girlfriends there, I'm still the one who acts as her main wedding organizer. Well, online wedding organizer at least. She thinks because I got married first that I knew all about there is about weddings. I don't mind though because I'm just fascinated with anything that has to do with wedding preparations. I even helped her choose the design of her cake and emailed this san diego wedding dj so he can send me the available play lists from their company. And you guessed it right; I designed her wedding invitations as well. It's just too bad that I won't be able to see the fruits of our labor unless she'd be so grateful that she'll pay for my airfare. ;) Anyway, I really enjoyed helping her. To show her thanks, she sent Sandy two dresses from RL and a two-piece suit from Baby Gap which made me love her even more.

Life and Beyond

Ever since we got married, Sherwin made sure that we buy an insurance package. I wasn't too thrilled paying for something I don't think I'll benefit from but agreed to get one anyway. Good thing we got one because I found out three months after that we're pregnant. Everything changed since then. It seems that my main goal in life was to make sure that our daughter will live comfortably just in case we pass away. I also learned the reason behind my husband's insistence that we get life insurance. My father-in-law died when he was only 12 years old and saw how my mother-in-law struggled with their assets. I wasn't sure if she had help with probate planning, I just know that it took her years before she finally settled everything. Now, I'm the one who bugs my husband to make our own will. Some people, especially our single friends find it too morbid to talk about these things but when you're a parent, you just can never be too sure.

A Quick Visit to Fort Santiago

Hello friends! We visited Fort Santiago last weekend for lack of nothing better to do. We are so tired of the malls so decided to try visiting our famous parks instead. It was a bit of a letdown because we arrived around 10:30AM when the weather was so freaking hot. I tried to stay on areas that are surrounded with huge rocks to cool myself. Sandy's nose was dripping too so she wasn't able to run around as much as she wanted. Still, we were able to take some nice photos and learned a valuable lesson: wake up early and plan the trip well.

The Online Slave

My client-slash-friend is bragging again on how many cars he has. He loves to tell me his recent purchases whether it's a Macbook Air, iPhone 3G or a new car. It's just good nature bragging though which I'm so used to by now. Besides, he pays on time and always sends me extra cash during special occasions to show how he appreciates my design services. Back to his cars, he said he'd love to send me his old Civic (old=2005) only if I live near him. As if! He's just saying that just because it will never happen. And did I mention that he is 58 years old? His age and generosity are the main reasons why I tolerate him LOL.

Anyway, the reason why he's bragging is because he wanted my help in researching for a car sales website. He said he wants to sell his Dodge Dakota so he can buy a Caravan instead. I told him that I'll charge him per hour and as soon as he gave me the go signal, I went to google and typed in used dodge truck san diego. My client can be very lazy sometimes you know. Anyway, I found sddodge.com where you can request for trade appraisal for your vehicle. He'll probably get a better deal if he trade in his truck. My mother-in-law does that all the time, almost every three yeas and she said she's saving a lot of money that way.

And just in case you're wondering if I charged him, no, I didn't.

Selling Fab Eyewear

Hey stay-at-home-moms! Do you know that you can earn extra cash selling Discount Sunglasses? You can read more from the Wholesale Discount Sunglasses website but to give you a gist of it, here's how it works. You buy discount replica sunglasses at a wholesale price, let's say for $1 and then you sell them for $6-$10 a pair. You immediately earn $5 and up for each pair plus you can do it online or by joining fairs and bazaars near you.

These replica sunglasses sell like hotcakes because of its affordability and style. Everyone wants one, no matter how old you are or wherever you're going. Let’s face it, not everyone can afford designer sunglasses but I know a lot of people who'd love to wear something similar without leaving a huge dent on their wallets. Also, these sunglasses are different from the knock off types. They are not made of cheap materials and don't have designer brands or logos on them. But I assure you, they are equally stylish!

Aside from replica sunglasses, you can also sell various types including clip ons, buckle styles, aviator types, mirrored, polarized, poker, rhinestone sunglasses and many more.

Another Toy

I promised a month ago that I will stop buying toys for Sandy but I just can't help myself. We went to Rustan's this morning to buy her a new pair of running shoes. I told her she can only play in the play area when we're done with shopping and to my surprise, she cooperated. She behaved so well that I wanted to buy her something nice immediately. It doesn't have to be expensive, just something that she'll have fun with.

While browsing for small and cheap toys, I noticed that Sandy was standing so close to this tower-like toy. She couldn't take her eyes off it so I went to her and check it out. It's sooo cool, I'm telling you. It reminds me so much of me and my brother as we play all afternoon with our own set of marbles. I was surprised to know that it's cheap too so I bought it immediately. Thankfully, Sandy is still not bored with it. In fact, it keeps her occupied for 30 minutes to an hour. ;)

Cheap Glasses

Looking for cheap but quality glasses? Check out zennioptical.com, an online website selling stylish and prescription glasses for as low as $8. Just because these eyeglasses are cheap doesn't mean they can't do the job. Each pair are designed to meet any style requirements and created with high quality product to ensure durability, safety and comfort for the wearer. The reason why Zenni Optical can offer them at very affordable prices is because they don't spend money on middlemen and expensive advertising.

As for me, I really like the Acetate Full-Rim Frame at $23.95. It doesn't have the usual thin frame that's designed for women like the one on this photo. Instead, it has a full rim frame giving it a nice retro look. It also reminds me of Lisa Loeb's eyeglasses so I might go for that. I still can't believe how cheap they are. Where else can you get a pair of eye glasses that has anti scratch coating, full UV protection, thin and light 1.57 index lens for $8? Go ahead and check out their collection. You might want to buy two or even five pairs to match all your outfits.

2nd Baby for Gavin Rossdale

Gawd, Gwen is pregnant again. Time flies so fast really. It feels like yesterday when my friend send me the url to an article about Gwen wanting to have another child. Now, as you can see from this photo, she's so huge and about to pop. Papa Gavin Rossdale must be so happy. I envy Gwen! Not because she's pregnant but because she snagged Gavin :P. Who knew Gav could be so domesticated?

Save on Travel with Airline Credit Cards

I'd love to have an Airline Miles Credit Card. My friend has two and she uses her rewards for booking hotel accommodations or to buy another airline tickets. She told me to check out airlinecreditcardrewards.com because it helped her a lot in deciding which credit card she'll get. This site compares all airline credit cards available by displaying all the features each card has to offer. There are Intro APR, Intro APR Period, annual fees, balance transfers and more. I really hate paying annual fees and luckily, all of the airline credit cards don’t have one. They all sounds great to be honest but the Blue Sky from American Express is the only that offers up to $100 off on airline, hotel, rental cars for every 7,500 points that you accumulate. It also has travel accident insurance and buyers’ assurance plan. Interested too? You can apply directly from the site and receive approval in 60 seconds.

Rosary for Sandy

My mother-in-law gave Sandy some religious jewelry including a nice lavender jade rosary. I guess it's because so she can teach Sandy how to pray the rosary at a young age. To those who don’t know, Sandy loves Papa Jesus and Mama Mary more than Barney and Barbie. She loves hearing bible stories from her Lola ever since she turned one. Now, whenever I check on Sandy when she's in my mother-in-law's room, I always see them praying or singing holy songs. It's all good you know. My husband and I are not exactly avid church goers so I'm glad that Sandy is being exposed properly from her Lola's side.

Nokia N810

I like!

I admit I'm a sucker for smartphones. I just find it liberating that I can check all my emails, browse the internet using wi-fi, read my favorite books, blog and upload photos using a small device. Nokia N810 is definitely on my list of great phones mainly because of the info below.

Share Online
High speed internet in your hand makes sharing great moments, as they happen, much easier. With an integrated QWERTY keyboard, high resolution widescreen display and a browser powered by Mozilla, you can blog on the spot, or upload images to let your on-line networks know what youve been up to.

Being an Internet addict, I'd grab any opportunity that will let me connect to the Internet even without my laptop. I've proven so many times how useful it is especially when you get stuck inside a hotel room or restaurant with absolutely nothing to do.

Random Qs

What makes you laugh? Sandy's antics

Who is your hero? My mom. She worked so hard all her life to give me and my brother a nice life. It wasn't what you'd call comfortable but we never felt deprived.

Who would you want to be tied to for 24 hours?
My husband and Sandy, in Boracay or Baguio.

How many pairs of shoes do you own? 8 Pairs to be exact. At least, those are the ones that I still wear.

Who do you blame for your mood today? I'm so tired on a Monday so I blame it on our stressful weekend. We woke up so early yesterday because Sandy's lips are so swollen and had to be rushed to the ER.

What is something scientists need to invent? Everyone would love to have this - Cars that don't need fuel

Have you ever broken a bone? No.

Do you watch local news? Why? Never. They just bring me down. I only hear about news second hand from my husband.

How big is your bed? Big enough? Queen and a single bed combined for the little girl

Cheap Wish List

Oh I love these kinds of questions. Write a list of things that you want to buy or get that's below $50.

A 4GB micro sd for my E65 phone.
A 90-minute aromatherapy massage at The Spa
A pair of Hercules/gladiator sandals like this

Nice silk dress from Zara
Three of my favorite titles, hardbound
Book on Macromedia Flash or Illustrator
New pair of Alice for Sandy
A chocolate filled evening at Max Brenner

The Business Side

I'm thinking of putting up computer rentals near Sandy's school. I noticed that new shops and services are sprouting like mushrooms in that area, including a new condo property. I want to take advantage of the opportunity that no one has thought of putting up a computer shop yet. The problem is I have no idea how to run a business. And I'm too lazy to go out and acquire business permits and such. Perhaps I can ask my mom to help me, she's an expert when it comes to business applications plus, she might do all the work for me LOL. That's what mothers are for right? I'm not taking advantage or anything. She finds these things exciting whereas I find excitement in planning details.

Car Expenses

The Husband can't stop talking about upgrading auto parts. Sometimes I can't help but think we'd save more if we didn't have a car. But with a toddler, not having one is out of the question. Pollution is so bad now and I just don't want to expose my daughter to more germs by commuting. Anyway, aside from "very much needed" upgrades, the price of gas is just unbelievable and it kept on increasing DAILY. I remember when we used to fill a tank at Php700 ($15). You can have a road trip anywhere without worrying about the dent it will make on your wallet. Those days are long gone now. Makes me wonder how much the gas will be when it's time for Sandy to drive?

Gold vs Paper

I read from a forum that it's better to invest in Australian dollars. However, a friend told me that nothing really beats precious metals investments. Unlike paper, it has true intrinsic value and will offer you a solid, long-term and tangible way of protecting your wealth.

From the Monex Deposit Company website:

Precious metals have been a solid hedge against a declining U.S. dollar
Precious metals have been a proven safe-haven in times of war, political strife and uncertainty
Precious metals can offer outstanding price appreciation and profit potential

We lost a lot of money when we bought educational plan for my daughter in dollars. The exchange rate back then was Php56=$1 but now, the highest so far is Php44. So the next time we will invest, it will have to be something more solid and secure. Of course, nothing is really certain when it comes to investing but based from the information from MDC, precious metals is still the safest bet.

See the gold price from their site.
