Online Backgammon

Want to compete in a real backgammon tournament? Check out this online backgammon site called Mister Gammon for the latest about backgammon tournaments and events. The backgammon game software can be downloaded for free and you have the option to play for real money or just for fun. The site also offers several playing tips and tricks so you can make the most out of playing backgammon online. Players don't have to pay anything to enter the world-class online tournaments. If you're serious in competing though, the satellite tournaments offer a low buy-in cost as an alternative to the slightly expensive direct buy-in.

Gossip

Now let's see how addicted I am to gossip.

I took this test knowing I'd probably get 100% but was surprised to see that ...

You Are a Little Addicted to Gossip

In your view, most gossip is pretty harmless.

And it's a pretty fun way to pass the time!

You're willing to pass on some juicy details...

As long as you're not impacting anyone's personal life too deeply.

So I do have a good side after all :)

On Cars

I'm not exactly a car person. I do like checking the exterior though. And I especially like it red. Or black. I don't care about how fast it is, I just want to know if it can do the job. So explaining why a car is more expensive because of the wood dash kits or grilles is totally pointless for me. Tell me if it's safe for the little girl and if we can afford it then we'll buy it asap.

A dialup would probably do

One of the things that I hated during our 4-day-stay at the hospital was the bad cell phone signal. The rooms in UST didn't have Internet access so The Husband and I were depending on our cell phones to coordinate with co-workers via phone call and email. I hope the hospital will think about installing wireless Internet so that you can still have access to the outside world. This will be helpful especially for parents who need to get their work done while staying close with their kids who are sick.

Bath

One of the things that I promised to do this year is to improve the look of our bathroom. New wall colors, mirrors and one of those posh bathroom vanities usually does the trick. However, I still don't have the budget to "re-do" our bathroom so I might just have to re-paint the walls with a different color. Our bathroom had a total makeover when Sandy was born. It used to have a romantic feel to it, lots of candles scattered on the bathtub, nice lightings to add ambiance, matching rugs and shower curtain. Now the first thing you'll see are rubber duckies, baby bathtub, baby toilet, a Little Mermaid shower curtain plus all the water bath toys that you can think of.

Online Pool

Here's a gaming website that billiard enthusiasts would definitely love - Billiard Magic. BilliardMagic.com offers several online games that you can play wherever you are. From online snooker to 8-ball pool, your favorite billiard games can be played for either for real money or play money. If you want to play snooker or pool but not yet confident in your skills, choose play money so you can practice. You can also check the tips and pool articles from the site to further enhance your strategy and increase your chances in winning at one of the Billiard tournaments the site has to offer.

My Place

Still on real estate, I noticed that most of my friends are now investing in condo units as well. We went that road once but we didn't push through with the purchase no matter how affordable it was. Condo living is just not right for us, what with a little girl who hates being cooped up in one place. Which is why we're just planning to rent for a while until we can have enough money to buy our own house. Hopefully, we can find a big house with three rooms so Sandy can have her own room and the third one being my office.

What's Cookin'

I recently bagged a design project for a new real estate website. The client mentioned the Wilmington real estate website as one of the sites that he liked. He said the functionality and the navigations are easy and the application forms are visible on every page. My concern though is if I can deliver the programming end. My skills with online forms are so basic so I might convince him to let me hire a programmer to work on the more complicated sections.

Quick Getaway

Due to Sandy's recent confinement at the hospital, I want to treat my small family to a cheap but restful getaway this weekend. We can probably go to some posh hotel (oh I forgot I'm looking for cheap) and just lie around in the pool or watch TV with room service. I know we can do that here but we just don't get enough rest when we're at home. There are just too many people around and too many work and household chores to attend to. I do hope we can find some discounted rates online. AND most importantly, I hope that we'll get the rest that we deserve.

Shopping for Gifts

Time flies by so fast, next thing you know, Valentine's Day is just around the corner. Which means that there are tons of discounts and promos all over the Internet that I can take advantage of. Of course, you can never get wrong with couponchief.com and its amazing selection of coupon codes. As a gift for myself (call me selfish I don't care), I'm getting a couple of snapfish coupons so I can finally get me some nice photobooks. For The Husband, I'll use the perfumecountry coupon code, which will save me up to 50% off on all fragrances. Nice huh? CouponChief.com is just perfect for those who want to give quality gifts without burning their wallets.

Yeah.

This is how lucky I am. Two of my blogs went down today. Just when I was about to pass some assignments that's about to expire in two hours, something like this happens.

They are now up after one hour of waiting for tech support. Can't complain, though. It can be worse.

Wine Club

I've always wanted to be a part of a wine club. I used to watch this show about wine of the month clubs at Lifestyle Network where they feature the best wines and have a wine tasting outside someone's beautiful garden. Which is why when I saw The Gold Medal Wine Club website, I just can't resist browsing to learn more about America's leading wine club. The Gold Medal Wine Club chooses wines based on criteria that include high ratings in the national wine publications like Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast and more. As a member, you will have the opportunity to discover these unique and hard-to-find wines, with discounts up to 45% off of winery direct prices. It doesn't cost to be a member and there are no minimum obligations or monthly fees. All you need to do is enjoy the top quality, award winning wines that they feature at a very low price. The wines can be delivered to your doorstep or to your recipient as a special gift.

Carbon Copy

The little girl is really the carbon copy of her Papa.

She got everything from The Husband from the way she smiles to the way her hair curls. It's nice to see my husband whenever I look at Sandy's face but how I wish that she’d at least look a bit like me when she gets older. I know she's poised and graceful like me (LOL) but I love hearing this line from the movies whenever someone dies or got separated - "you have your mother's eyes". Not that I want something bad to happen to us heh.

Friday's Feast

Saw this from Aggie's blog and decided to try it.

Join us!

Feast One Hundred & Seventy Six

Appetizer
What is your favorite beverage?
Iced Tea. Four Seasons.

Soup
Name 3 things that are on your computer desk at home or work.
ipod, books, picture frames, loose coins, card readers, charger. In short, tons of junk.

Salad
On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being highest), how honest do you think you are?
5? I don't like hurting someone's feelings which is why sometimes I find myself lying just to make someone happy or shut up lol.

Main Course
If you could change the name of one city in the world, what would you rename it and why?
Can't think of any right now.

Dessert
What stresses you out? What calms you down?
The little girl and her tantrums. Oddly enough, she's also the only one who can calm me especially when I'm so tired from working.

Sleep

I envy Jane and her uninterrupted sleep. She has been sleeping soundly for months now whereas I'm still sleeping in one-hour intervals. It's not the little girl's fault this time. It's The Husband's loud snoring that's keeping me awake and on guard the whole night. Putting Sandy to sleep is a long, tiring process. Putting her down to bed is another matter. When I'm done with those, you'd think I can finally get my much-needed rest but no, I have to be alert in nudging The Husband every ten minutes so he can stop snoring. He doesn't wake up Sandy anymore like he usually does but if his snores are loud enough to disturb me, then the possibility of Sandy waking up as well is very high. Sometimes I just throw a big pillow at him but I always feel guilty after. My short-term solution is to lie down beside him so I can easily wake him up when gets loud. The problem with this solution is that none of us will get quality sleep except the little one.

Love-Hate-Hate-Love

2. I hate to eat: Nothing.
3. I love to go: To France.
4. I hate to go: on seminars that I know nothing about.
5. I love it when: I get what I want. Especially if I worked so hard to achieve it.

8. I hate to see: Sandy in pain
9. I love to hear: Sandy and The Husband’s voice. Both of them are good singers.

Innovative Products

Technology advancement does not only apply to computer but on life enhancing products like Daily Living Aids. Just check out AllegroMedical.com and you'll see a lot of innovative products to help people improve the qualities of their lives. I particularly like the Framed Page magnifier, which allows you to magnify an entire page at once. The alarm clocks with bed shaker or the talking watch are so cool that I would love to receive those as gifts. And speaking of gifts, there are so many useful items that you can give to your parents/grandparents like the battery powered card shuffler, the Under-Counter Jar and Bottle Opener, or the Steady Write writing instrument. All products are designed to deliver top customer satisfaction combined with competitive prices and convenience of having the product delivered to your doorstep.

Saved

I'm so glad we have medical insurance from The Husband's company. Both The Husband and the little girl had to go to the hospital this month and we saved a lot of money because of our card. All we need to pay for are the meds, which is reimbursible from my company. In short, we don't have to pay for anything. I'm so thankful for our company benefits. This made me think of getting medicare insurance for my parents so we can save on checkup and medicines too.

Cheap but Quality Eyeglasses

I used to have a perfect vision until I began working in front of the computer. Now I get headaches just after a few hours of looking at the monitor or reading a book. Which is why I'm seriously contemplating getting myself a reading glasses. I've been searching the net for a nice pair and found a Great Discovery: www.ZenniOptical.com. They offer a huge selection of frames from stainless to rimless, children's to sunsensor lens, bifocal to progressive and so many more. Their collections for women are very nice and I particularly liked the stainless steel half-rim ones. If you're on a budget but looking for quality eyeglasses, ZenniOptical's $8 eyeglasses are just right for you.

Adjustable Weight Loss Surgery

If you've given up losing weight after dieting and exercising for years, then JourneyLite's lap-band system could be just for you. LAP-BAND is the least invasive weight-loss surgery available today because there are no cutting or rerouting of the small intestines involved. It's reversible and adjustable and you can go home a few hours after the surgery. This system is designed to restrict food intake without affecting the normal digestive process. Using small instruments, a silastic band will be placed around the upper portion of the stomach to create a small pouch and a narrow passage into the larger stomach. This pouch can hold only an ounce or two of food so you will feel satisfied immediately when eating. Aside from being adjustable and reversible, the risk of complications is very low in this kind of procedure.

Lil Rockstar

Check out The Husband's protegee.

I'm sure for Sherwin that this is not just a photo opp. I can see him planning his guitar lessons in his mind for Sandy, wondering which song he should teach her first.

Mouse Trap

Just found out that my Ethernet cable has a few bites in it. It's probably one of the reasons why my connection is going on and off. I wouldn't know about it if I didn't have to crawl under my table to retrieve Sandy's jackstone ball. Guess I'll have to buy another cable then. I can go for those Cat6 snagless cables that The Husband have been telling me to buy. He’s addicted to anything that needed wiring you know.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year everyone!

2008 was off to a good start for me. First, I won 2 online raffles, both for $10. Not that big but if you think about how my name always gets stuck at the bottom of the raffle boxes, you will agree that 2008 is indeed my lucky year. Only two days have passed and I already received tons of design projects which means more savings, in time for our BIG purchase (I won't tell you what it is!). The little girl has also been sleeping through the night, though I'm not counting on it to last, the fact that I have been sleeping for more than five hours is a huge feat.

So, Happy Happy Happy 2008 to all of you out there. Here's a picture of me and Sandy while we're watching the fireworks from our house.
