What a tiring weekend

As always. We're officially mallrats - The Husband, Sandy and me. We spend all our weekends hanging out at the mall even if we don't have anything that we need to buy. On Sundays we go to the grocery store but without taking a "short" trip to the department stores just to browse through shops. It's an expensive hobby, I tell you. We buy small trinkets and cheap items just because they're cut that by the time we get home, we're five thousand pesos poorer. Just like what my friend says, if you calculate the money that we spend weekly, it'd be enough for a two-night stay on any luxurious vegas hotels. But as much as we love to visit parks, there isn't any near our place. Add to my long list of reasons why we prefer the mall is the scorching heat or on and off rain showers. So we don't really have a choice. Staying at home is not an option anymore because Sandy and I spend our days cooped up inside so a trip to anywhere is considered a happy day.

Treasure Hunt

The Husband has been tearing the place because he's looking for his Dad's old Rolex. It was very old and not working anymore but has sentimental value. I remember placing it in one of our huge organizers that I keep inside the cabinets but it wasn't there anymore. To think the organizers were designed to help homeowners store their things better. I should help him I know but I can't find the strength to move boxes and boxes of junk only to find that item we're looking for is not there really there. Plus I'm pretty sure that things appear out of nowhere when you're not doing you're very best to find it. ;)

Bye Chloesters

The weekend was pretty hectic. There were moving boxes everywhere because my brother-in-law and his family are moving out of the house. I feel a bit sad because Sandy won't be able to play with her cousin and only playmate, Chloe. Their house is in Cainta, about 1 to two hours drive if it's traffic so a playdate every other day might be impossible. My sister-in-law promised that they will sleep over every Friday so Sandy will still see tons of her cousin. I feel bad to see my sister-in-law go because she has been a great in-law and friend to me. You know I rarely have someone to talk to because I work from home and having another woman just across the hallway is a great help if you need to talk about baby and girly stuff. Anyway, I hope we can keep our promise that we'd keep in touch weekly so Chloe and Sandy will still grow up together.

Early Signoff

I can't believe I'm done with all my work and sideline projects. And it's only Thursday! Amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it. Now that I have one whole day free to do what I want, I'm having trouble writing my to-do list. Should I scrap, sleep, update my portfolio or clean up our cabinet? A mother just never runs out of things to do. I've also been dying to have another haircut. My one-month-old fabulous Katie do is now all over the place. Or I could take up on my girlfriend's invitation to have a drink tomorrow. See. Even if I have this free time, I have no idea how to maximize it.

All Handmade

I just love Wendy Culpeppers' handcrafted jewelry. Aside from the fact that they're affordable, the designs are very chic and fashionable that you can wear it on almost any occasions. I read that her jewelries have been worn by famous celebrities like Rachael Ray, Jessica Alba, Paris Hilton and many more. The ones from sterling silver collection are my fave especially the Drop necklace and earrings. The Akasha sterling silver necklace is also very nice and would you believe, costs only $85? It's a great gift for mothers and long time girlfriends. Not only to show how much you love them, but also to share your good fashion taste.

Who Called You?

I came across this cool site at whojustcalledhere.com (don't you just love that domain) that lets you look for phone numbers that called you. For only a one time fee of $39.95, you can get one year unlimited access to whojustcalledhere.com's database of phone numbers and get information on the number that you need. Say goodbye to missing important calls and lost leads because you can now track each and every call made. The site also offers Reverse Cell Phone Lookup single report for only $14.95 if you only need to know a single phone number.

Now if you need to block harassing phone calls, just add your phone number to the No Call List and your data will be removed from sources that the marketers have access to. This feature is free and will take 30 days to be fully implemented.

My Face

I recently finished the NOW and THEN tag. It was a tag using old photos to show how you've changed over the years. I had so much fun because all these memories came crashing back. The first time I rode a bike, tasted alcohol, met my husband, gave birth to Sandy, etc. One thing I realized is that my skin was so much nicer when I was pregnant. It looked so clear up to Sandy's first birthday even with only 2-3 hours of sleep a day. Come to think of it, I never had problems with breakouts and pimples even when I was a teenager. Those were the days. Looking at the mirror now makes me want to rush to the drug store and get some acne treatments.

Timepieces that Lasts Forever

Have you seen these gerald genta watches? They are just beautiful! Of course, the price says it all but I'm sure there's a reason why they are priced at $15,000-$20,000. That's still affordable though compared to Audemars Piguet Jules Audemars Watches Grande Sonnerie (see photo to the left). That's too long for a watch's name huh? You can bet that the price is high too. The site said it costs $250,000+ and that's just the range.

If you're looking for similar items, ViaLuxe.com is the site for you. Vialuxe.com helps consumers find the luxury goods they want to purchase by searching the web for authorized dealers. Whether you're looking for top of the line jewelry or expensive timepieces, Vialuxe will connect you to a dealer near you. Shopping online for items that costs more than $10,000 is not something that you do everyday so it's important to deal with reliable and secure websites only. Some of the brands that the site offers are Baume & Mercier, Patek Philippe, Cartier, Bvlgari and more. And if you're not sure what to get, a quick visit to the Luxe News section will tell you everything you need to know from the latest press releases from the brands, reviews from publishers and blog writers, what celebrities wear and more.

Happy Mother's Day

These are my favorite moments. Just a quiet afternoon with my little girl, with the sunlight giving the room a soft glow. She's doing her thing while I wonder how she does the simplest things - her chubby arms flapping like wings, small fingers grasping a toy, eyes looking at you when you're away, a big voice coming from that tiny mouth, unexpected kisses, and many more.

Bookworm Meme

From randomness.

1. Do you like to read? What is your fav book? author?
Very much. My favorite book/series is the Griffin and Sabine Trilogy by Nick Bantock. I also enjoy books by Paolo Coehlo especially The Alchemist and Eleven Minutes.

2. Do you hate it when they turn a book into a film?
Not really. What I don't like about it though is that lots of events and dialogues get cut in films. There's so much more that you can say in books and it will take more than five hours to do all that in movies.

3. Has a book ever changed your life? How?
All the time. I get inspired to reach for my dreams with The Alchemist. While on the Griffin and Sabine, I began believing in magic and parallel worlds again. On the Time Traveler's wife, I feel really bad for the character because of his condition. It makes me appreciate my life and do things to improve it.

4. Do you tend to borrow books from the library or do you prefer to buy them?
I prefer my own collection so I always buy them, mostly second hand so it's cheaper.

5. Which book are you planning on reading next?
100 years of solitude

Guess How Much

... I spent on NSD?

$44 for 7 huge kits, three freebie kits and 5 alpha sets. Not bad huh? I loved all my purchases and can't wait to use all of them. Now I know why moms are going crazy with scrapbooking. I read my scrapbook magazines everyday now to learn and be inspired. There are so many stories there from women all around the world who found happiness in preserving memories through scrapbooks. I even read about this old woman who used to do paper scrapping but had to stop when she lost control of her hands. When she began to feel like she can use a mouse, she started digital scrapbooking even with only one hand and hasn't stopped ever since. How great is that?

Now all I need to do is buy a new battery for my laptop and I'm all set.

HAPPY NSD

Here are the contents of my cart. No news on the sale yet so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

All of these are from the Shabby Miss Jenn Designs.

Will post more of my purchases as soon as I've checked them out. :D

If this will not finish Sandy's first yearbook, I don't know what I'd do anymore.

Mayer Lover

John Mayer is definitely using his rockstar status to meet hot women.

There's Eva Longoria, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Vanessa Carlton and who knows who.

I'm just shocked that he pursued J. Anniston and vice versa. Are they even moving in the same cirle? Not that I'd know anything about that LOL. Still. Isn't Anniston older than him? Oh well, at least he hasn't gone out with anyone who came from drug rehab. Well, not YET anyway.

I still love JM's music, fyi. I'm happy to note that it doesn't get affected by the fact that he's starting to turn into a womanizer or that he's getting more pop-ish each day.
